Red Tape Ordered to Pay Compensation Following Unfair Trade Practice Ruling

A consumer commission in Rohtak has issued a directive against footwear brand Red Tape, ordering the company to refund Rs 10 charged for a carry bag and pay Rs 8,000 as compensation and costs. The commission’s decision was prompted by a customer complaint alleging that the company had engaged in an unfair trade practice by charging separately for the carry bag.

According to the commission’s ruling, Red Tape’s actions constituted a deficiency in service, as customers were being charged extra for what is generally considered a complimentary item.
